Hey mama! Have you had to dig deep into your creativity this Summer with kids? With usual summer plans being canceled or postponed, we have spent a lot of time living the simple life- just playing! Kids love doing anything out of their routine and having a picnic is super simple. I’ve come up with great ideas that will make picnicking a breeze! Brynn loves picnics! It’s a fun way to spend time girl time together all while enjoying some delicious food! We chose an indoor picnic this time, because it’s August heat here in Houston! Our Menu included: watermelon, hot dogs, nachos, chips, lemonade, and cupcakes for dessert! Finger foods are always fun, relaxed, and kid’s favorite! We placed a large green leaf table cover as our “grass” in the playroom, brought out our basket, food, and enjoyed our picnic for two!
PICNIC IDEAS:
- Stuffed Animals Picnic- Have your kids bring any stuffed animals, teddy bears, dolls to the picnic. Brynn invited her favorite puppies to have lunch with us.
- Family Dinner Picnic- Instead of having lunch at the dinner table, bring it to the floor in the living room and sit on a table cover, blanket, etc. This can be pizza, hotdogs, finger foods, or your planned dinner.
- Tea Party Picnic- Make tiny sandwich bites, mini cucumber slices, grapes, or your favorite fruit, and use tea party cups and plates. We had Barbie and friends over for this one.
- Brunch in the Backyard Picnic- Sunday’s are for brunch at our house. Take your pancakes, fruit, eggs, brunch, to the backyard to enjoy. We usually sit in our patio furniture for this one. This then turns to a let’s throw the football and play in the sprinklers kind of day.
- Movie Night Picnic- Turn the lights off in the living room and enjoy a picnic while watching a movie! This is perfect for a Friday night of family relaxation!
No matter how you choose to picnic, always remember to have FUN! Your kids don’t need you to go buy anything fancy for it. Use what you have at home, and make it sound like the best day ever! Happy picnicking!
